Building on the success of last year's map, we teamed up with Masterblox to reveal the 2024 edition of the Portuguese Web3 Ecosystem – an updated and revised map, showcasing the latest and greatest web3 projects bred in Portugal.

Disclaimer: Please note that while some companies featured in our map have a legal entity or official headquarters in Portugal, others are DAOs (Decentralized Autonomous Organizations) and thus do not maintain a legal presence. However, these DAOs contribute significantly through core contributors based in Portugal, playing a crucial role in the growth and development of the Web3 landscape in the region.

🗺️ The selection process behind the Portuguese blueprint

For the 2024 edition, we followed the same specific criteria as last year to make sure we provide a complete and accurate representation. To be featured on this map, companies needed to meet at least one of two mandatory requirements:

1) they either had to have a Portuguese founder; or
2) have their headquarters in Portugal.

This approach ensured that the core of each company had a strong connection to the Portuguese scene.

Besides these fundamental criteria, we also analyzed different aspects that show how a company is making an impact and establishing its position in the web3 space. Factors such as the scale of the project, the amount of funding raised, and the breadth of partnerships formed, among other indicators like market presence and community engagement, also played a significant role in our selection process.

The result? A map that highlights the most promising and thriving web3 projects in Portugal, giving visibility to their achievements and impact.

The 2024 Portuguese web3 ecosystem map is more than just a collection of company names and locations. It is a vivid illustration of Portugal's resilience, innovation, and forward-thinking mindset in the web3 domain.
